Freighway site re-development workshop with BFJ Consulting

Last night at the Scarsdale Congregational church there was yet another meeting/workshop on the Freightway site. Here are a few pictures, round table discussion and presentation after the discussion:

The best comment came from Brice Kirkendall-Rodriguez who has lived in the area for a while.

He said we should take our time planning for this site, we should not hurry since what does get built will be there for the next 100 years. I agree.

This sense of immediate doom, is not getting us anywhere. The site is too big, there is too much to consider. It is almost like we are all getting crushed with the weight of this project. Maybe we should divide it into three or four components and take it one step at a time...

The MTA Station should probably relocate to the Freightway site and make one cohesive Village Center and then we could start planning around that. As is, the Station on one site, the garage on the other, the bridge in between is too much to consider. Too hodge, podge, nothing cohesive.

However, I must say everyone seemed to like the Highline idea, that we needed to have some green space in and around the garage to soften and lend some elegance, some green elements, some air to breathe.

An underground parking with the station on top, a couple of apartments,  couple of shops.

Small, nothing too big, nothing overwhelming. A park with plaza and fountains, some benches, free wi-fi.

Simple, elegant, small. Lovely, I say !

Why destroy, demolish this ?

A little sweat equity and you can repair/ upgrade this easily. Who can build a house now with this quality ? Often windows are old windows, like in the palaces in Europe. Don't get swayed by the real estate industry ( " professionals " ) wanting to sell what they have.

Hold on to what you have, it is priceless. Be patient. Good things often come to those who wait.

Questions ?

Contact me. Will be glad to help.

12 School Lane - Exemplary Renovation and Addition

Beautiful house !

The owners have been meticulously renovating and updating this home fro a while now and this summer they put on a two story addition where there was only one story sun-room to the right of the house.

As you can see it blends in seamlessly and adds on to the elegance !

No reason there could not be many more such renovations, additions.

Congratulations !

Thank you for keeping Scarsdale authentic and beautiful.

If you are a resident of Scarsdale and know of a renovation/addition such as the one above and would like it mentioned here, please contact me with pictures and address of said home, at: Lika@Save-Scarsdale.org.

Sorry, at times I fail to travel all 80 miles of Scarsdale roads to notice these renovations/additions.

Many thanks in advance.

More Love, No Hate ....

And yet, this is what Scarsdale Congregational Church's message says - over and over agin.

They have had this message displayed many times before and just as many times I have called the pastor and had a long conversation. She assured me many times, that they would alter the banner. And yet... If a church is advocating hate, no wonder we are where we are.

Hate has no place in the  world. It will be a much better world if our local church advocated same.

Waiting for a banner: More Love, No Hate.

Hopefully soon.
